Congratulations to Aracely on presenting her thesis defense titled “The BCKDK inhibitor BT2 is a chemical uncoupler that lowers mitochondrial ROS production and de novo lipogenesis.” We wish Aracely the best of luck in her next chapter of life!
We congratulate Ajit for being awarded the 2023 Agilent Early Career Professor Award. Each year Agilent selects one professor who they believe demonstrates outstanding potential for future research, significant original research contributions enabling technologies of importance to Agilent and the world, and aligns with the focus topic. This year’s focus topic was “Contributions to the development of live cell analytical tools to identify and measure novel critical quality attributes to advance biomanufacturing applications.” For more information please see this link.
We wish a huge congratulations to Neira, an undergraduate researcher in the lab who just graduated from UCLA. Neira graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology and a minor in Mathematical Biology. She will be greatly missed, but we are excited to see all she accomplishes in this next chapter!
Congratulations to Amy for becoming a UCLA McNair Research Scholar. Good luck as you start your independent research project in the lab!
Congratulations to Andréa on passing her qualifying exams and officially becoming a Ph.D. candidate! We are very proud and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the coming years.
Congratulations to Anthony on successfully defending his thesis last Friday, October 28th! His thesis was titled “Determining the role of CoA in alternative macrophage activation.” Anthony will continue to work in the lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher as he prepares for his next adventure of Med School.
This summer we welcomed Marisa to the lab! She is a student in the department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology here at UCLA!
Congratulations to Ajit for receiving one of two UCLA DGSOM Junior Faculty Awards from the W. M. Keck Foundation.
Sending big congrats to our lab members on their recent publications! Anthony, Nataly and Aracely are all authors of “A Single LC-MS/MS Analysis to Quantify CoA Biosynthetic Intermediates and Short-Chain Acyl CoAs” published in Metabolites. Krista and Mary (UCLA Pharmacology rotation student) authored “Measuring CPT-1-mediated respiration in permeabilized cells and isolated mitochondria” published in STAR Protocols.
